Requirements for Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree

 
A student wishing to earn a BFA needs to begin the general art requirements and foundations sequence in the freshman year and maintain an average of at least two art courses per semester throughout the four years.  A 3.0 grade point average must be maintained within the Art Department, and candidacy for the BFA must be declared by the end of the sophomore year.

ART 101 - Studio Foundations: 2D
ART 103 - Studio Foundations: 3D
ART 110 - Art History I
ART 120 - Art History II
ART 121 - Basic Drawing
ART 221 - Drawing I*
+ 4 credits of Modern Art History
+ 4 credits of Upper-Level Art History (elective)
+ 20 credits in concentration of choice
+ 12 credits in art electives
+ 4 credits Capstone*
* ART 221 may be replaced by 4 credits of Upper-Level Printmaking

*Student is required to complete a four-credit Senior Studio Thesis Seminar, which will culminate in a solo exhibition.
