For several years I've been a member of the committee which constructs national standardized general chemistry exams for the Exams Institute of the Division of Chemical Education of the American Chemical Society. I also teach a National Science Foundation Chautauqua course on "Promoting Reflective Thinking in Science Classes." I've been on the staff of the Great Lakes Colleges Association summer Workshop on Teaching and Course Design since 1987.
Other Interests
I enjoy woodworking and playing the guitar and electric bass. I practice Tai Chi Chuan, and have a strong interest in Zen Buddhism. To participate in the community in which I live, I am a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician and Firefighter (Sergeant) in Miami Township Fire-Rescue in Yellow Springs, OH.
