Position:  Communications Intern

 

General description:

Support AVETeC’s education efforts by assisting the Springfield City Schools (SCS) on communications activities toward the overall goal of increasing the number and level of academic achievement of students completing high school and entering college.  Work effectively as a team member and individual contributor with minimal supervision.  Work flexible schedule of 8 to 15 hours per week.

 

Essential Duties:

 

Develop and implement an event marketing program for SCS. 

 

Prepare communications literature and materials, including public service announcements, brochures, flyers and other needed items.

 

Make oral presentations to various individuals and groups.

 

Maintain communications data base.

 

Ability to construct or learn to develop public opinion surveys.

 

Work collaboratively with SCS and AVETeC staff on other projects as assigned.

 

Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

                                   

Prefer concentration or strong background and interest in communications, graphics, marketing and technology.

 

Prefer knowledge and experience in event marketing or strong interest in researching and learning about it.

 

Outstanding interpersonal skills with a high degree of flexibility and energy.

 

Considerable experience making written and oral presentations and working effectively with a variety of people.

 

Outstanding interpersonal skills with a high degree of flexibility, energy, and ability to work within immediate timelines.

 

Excellent computer and office skills, using standard MS programs.

 

Ability to research and find needed information.

 

Ability to quickly learn new skills and master information.

Ability to travel to local schools and partner organizations as needed.
