Barbara Steel Kane Memorial Award

The pre-service teacher receives a $1,000 cash award. The recipient's name is added to a plaque displayed in Blair Hall and has their name announced at Wittenberg University's Honors Convocation, held each spring. Members of the senior class are selected by their peers and faculty members. Beginning in 2004, a major and minor teacher education candidate will be designated to receive this award.

The Silver Apple Award

The Wittenberg University Student Education Association (WUSEA) sponsors an award to honor a junior student in the department who displays an enthusiasm about teaching, is involved with Wittenberg both within and outside of the Education Department, easily builds rapport, has a great sense of humor, is hardworking and productive and is service oriented.

Selection of the recipient is made by a committee of WUSEA members, their advisor, and education faculty. The recipient is announced at the Wittenberg University Honors Convocation held in the spring.
