Education Department

JoEtta Cooper

JoEtta W. Cooper joined the Department of Education at Wittenberg in August of 2009.  She worked in the Springfield City Schools for many years, often collaborating with Wittenberg’s Department of Education and is excited to now be serving as the Director of Student Teaching and Teacher Placement working with teacher licensure candidates, cooperating teachers and field supervisors.

Beginning her career with the Springfield City Schools, JoEtta was a middle grades teacher.  She also served as a Vocational Home Economics Supervisor and the Coordinator of an Adolescent Parent Program.  During her career, she advanced to administrative roles as a middle school assistant principal, and the principal at Snyder Park Elementary, Hayward Middle School and North High School.  Prior to joining the education department at Wittenberg, she coordinated the move from North and South High Schools to one campus and the opening of the new Springfield High School as Campus Manager.

JoEtta received her B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University, an M.S. from the Ohio State University, and completed principal licensure through the University of Dayton.  She lives in Springfield where her two daughters grew up and has a granddaughter currently attending elementary school in the Springfield City Schools.
