TEACHING ASSOCIATES PROGRAM
Description
The Teaching Associate program is one component of the Wittenberg Teacher Institute (WTI), a public and university partnership that has been created to promote the continuous improvement of teaching and learning in our schools. Teaching Associates are outstanding classroom teachers who have been selected to work as partners in creating courses and other professional development opportunities for area practitioners. Through the teaching of graduate level courses and through other outreach activities sponsored through the WTI, they will share practical knowledge and experiences with their colleagues. They will engage in action research in their classrooms and generally serve as positive, active, and vigorous voices for practical professional development for educators in our community.
Purposes
The purposes of the program are:
- To recognize and honor outstanding teachers
- To promote teacher leadership
- To utilize the resources of master teachers so that professional development opportunities are designed in ways more likely to increase student learning
