Tasks/Job Description
Directors: Wittenberg Teacher Institute


It is expected that the Directors of the Wittenberg Teacher Institute will work together in developing and maintaining its educational program. This work may be divided according to the responsibilities and opportunities associated with the partnership institutions, Wittenberg University and Springfield City Schools. Creating and maintaining the educational program shall be the mutual responsibility of the Directors.

Administrative

  • Help establish and direct the Institute’s Steering Committee
  • Develop with the Steering Committee the educational program for the Institute
  • Develop and maintain the budget for the Institute
  • Coordinate Institute work with other professional development initiatives
  • Identify instructors for the Institute
  • Maintain Institute records
  • Create administrative mechanisms for Institute work including the creation of the
         Associate’s program
  • Serve on Wittenberg’s Teacher Education Advisory Committee

    Program

  • Develop mechanisms for creating the “Associates” program
  • Assist in the development of outreach vehicles for sharing teacher research.
  • Assist in the development of courses matching P-12 needs with the graduate offerings of
         Wittenberg.
  • Help create networking conferences, seminars, and other education opportunities that
        might be appropriate
  • Help create assessment devices relating to the Institute program

    Miscellaneous

  • Create promotional vehicles relating to advertising the Institute’s program
  • Seek funding to support Institute programming
  • Work with relevant committees either in the Springfield City Schools, Wittenberg University,
         or the community whose work affects the vitality of the Institute
  • Represent the interests of the Institute to the wider Springfield community and the
         constituencies of Wittenberg University and Springfield City Schools
  • Develop mechanisms for creating the “Associates” program
  • Assist in the development of outreach vehicles for sharing teacher research.
  • Assist in the development of courses matching P-12 needs with the graduate offerings of
         Wittenberg.
  • Help create networking conferences, seminars, and other education opportunities that
         might be appropriate
  • Help create assessment devices relating to the Institute program
