Wittenberg Teacher Institute — Objectives
  • To consider ways to invigorate and sustain the physical, emotional, and spiritual well being of teachers.
  • To create opportunities for those served by the Institute to share their practical knowledge, expertise, and needs in such forms as networking conferences, seminars, courses, and other educational opportunities as may be appropriate.
  • To develop course ideas and educational initiatives that shape courses and educational experiences which are offered through the preservice and inservice teacher education programs at Wittenberg University and which are in keeping with the needs and objectives of partnership schools.
  • To provides opportunities for master teachers as Teaching Associates to share their knowledge with other professionals and preservice teachers as researchers, instructors, mentors, and developers of professional resources.
  • To develop vehicles for fostering and celebrating the professional knowledge of teaching through professional publication and an integrated/interactive web page.
  • To develop accessible and useful professional resource centers capable of sustaining the professional development initiatives of Wittenberg and Springfield/Clark County Schools.
  • To produce educational resources drawn from the expertise and practical knowledge of local teachers, teacher educators, and others serving youth in the community.
  • To develop the financial means to sustain and support the joint efforts of Springfield/Clark County Schools and Wittenberg University.
