Suggested Timeline of Program Requirements
for
an Education Minor

Note: A minor in education is required for the following areas of licensure:

• Adolescence to Young Adult (7-12)

• Multi-Age (P-12)

 Freshman and/or Sophomore Year

• Enroll in entry-level courses.

• Pick up advising sheet and Teacher Education Handbook. (Blair 204).

• Seek out Education Department adviser. Discuss career goals & prepare 4-yr plan.

• Declare education minor.

Junior Year

• Complete first methodology course.

• Apply for admission to the teacher education program.

• Complete application and interview procedure (middle of Spring Semester) for permission to student teach.

Senior Year

• Complete methodology courses.

• Make arrangements to take State Board of Education Tests (PRAXIS).

• Prepare teacher placement file.

• Complete application for licensure.

• Complete student teaching (Spring Semester).

 

Questions about requirements for graduation or teacher licensure should be addressed to your Education Department advisor. If your advisor is unavailable, check with the Chairperson of the Education Department, 201 Blair, or with the Director of Teacher licensure 207 Blair.
