Department Chairperson from 1981 to 1986, Terry Otten teaches mostly Romantic and modern literature, and drama. His some fifty articles, three books (The Deserted Stage, on 19th century drama; After Innocence , on more than a dozen writers from Blake to Edward Albee; and The Crime of Innocence in the Fiction of Toni Morrison), and essays in six anthologies give evidence of his wide-ranging delight in literary study. Recipient of Wittenberg's Distinguished Teacher Award and CASE 1988 Ohio Professor of the Year and National Bronze Medalist, he has received NEH and other grants, has been a reader for various scholarly journals and publishers, and has served on various regional and national committees for professional organizations.
