Michael Mattison was born before the wind, under a bad sign, in the backseat of a Greyhound bus, when a yellow moon had punched a hole in the nighttime. He was raised on radio, but he’s a clean-cut kid, and he’s been to college, too. When asked to choose colors, he prefers deep greens and blues. Most weeks, he sells cartoon balloons in town and counts his money in a garage by the motorway, although he has also been known to rub some fenders with a rag and walk home in soggy old shoes. For relaxation, he takes month-long vacations in the stratosphere, where it’s really hard to hold your breath. He don’t scare easy for no one, although it could just be that time has made him bolder. He is also incredibly grateful for the man who put the white lines on the highway.
And when he’s not busy constructing autobiographies from song lyrics, he directs the Writing Center at Wittenberg University and teaches English 242: Writing Center Theory and Practice.
