Kent H. Dixon is the winner of several awards for fiction, including an Honorable Mention in Best American Short Stories and a Notable Essays listing in Best American Essays: 1997, plus two Pushcart nominations, and Ohio Arts Council grants for 1990 and 1996. In 1994 he won first prize for STORY magazine's Love Story Competition; second prize in '96 for a Libido competition, another love story of sorts.

He has published short stories in journals such as Tri-Quarterly, The Iowa Review, Shenandoah, The Georgia Review, Carolina Quarterly, Gettysburg Review, and Libido, and recent articles and creative nonfiction in The Arkansas Review, Grand Tour, and The American Prospect.

He has also written for television and radio and is the author of seemingly endless movie reviews and several articles of scientific journalism. He is a contributing editor for The American Poetry Review and has recently completed a novel entitled Dance & Turn, as yet unpublished. He co-edited with Robert Coover the first volume of 'short shorts' (fiction) to be published in this country (1973). He has made films, mostly documentary, and is currently working in and teaching, among other things, videography and screenwriting. He teaches most prose genres of creative writing, frequently team-teaches, and has been over the years an innovator in using computer networking to teach writing. Lately he's been designing websites, such as: Grammar4Dumbies.
