Carmiele Wilkerson is an assistant professor of English. Her Ph.D. work in English/Rhetoric and her degree of Master of Technical and Scientific Communication is the foundation for the courses she teaches in technical and business communication. She also teaches courses in Afro-Caribbean literature and the African diaspora.
Her research interests have led her to write publications on W.E.B. Du Bois and on Afro-Caribbean national identity. Her publications include contributions to the Booker T. Washington Encyclopedia and an article, “Hidden Identity: Double Consciousness and The Caribbean Tongue,” in a two-volume series on W.E.B. Du Bois.
Wilkerson has initiated a program on Wittenberg’s campus, “Celebrating Women of Color,” which she organizes yearly. The program occurs during African American History month and bridges with Women’s Month.
