Olga L. Medvedkov, Associate Professor of Geography and Director of Russian Studies, teaches courses in economic, urban, and population geography, a special course on the geography of the post-Soviet realm, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). She received her B.A. and M.A. at Moscow State University and her Ph.D. in the Soviet Academy of Sciences, Institute of Geography, Moscow, where she worked before coming to Wittenberg. She has held many research positions, the current one as Senior Research Associate for the Mershon Center at The Ohio State University. Medvedkov has published extensively, including a book, Soviet Urbanization, in 1990, a chapter "Cities of the World", in 1993, and numerous other articles in professional journals. She has presented papers at national and international professional meetings. She became a full-time faculty member at Wittenberg in 1989.
