John B. Ritter
Assistant Professor of Geology and Director of Environmental Studies Program
(937) 324-7332
Assistant Professor of Geology and Director of Environmental Studies Program teaches courses in physical geology, geomorphology, and environmental geology. His current research interests include temporal and spatial variations in drainage basin water and sediment yield and the associated downstream adjustments. The general objective of this research is to understand causative mechanisms for stream deposition, stability, or erosion, especially with respect to climate change. He is presently working on alluvial fan evolution in northern Nevada and drainage pattern changes locally in the Mad River and Little Miami River systems. Ritter received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from The Pennsylvania State University and his M.S. from the University of New Mexico. He joined the Wittenberg faculty in 1990.
