| During the past 15 years approximately two-thirds
of Wittenberg's geology majors have pursued graduate study at major
universities across America, usually with a teaching or research
assistantship. Graduates are employed in all aspects of the geoscience
profession from high school and college teaching to private consulting
and the petroleum industry. Some, however, have chosen not to pursue
geology as a profession but rather have moved into related or totally
different fields. The following list summarizes the current occupations
of some of our graduates and characterizes the range of occupations
possible with a geology major:

Scott recently wrote us about his experiences in southern
Indiana, installing exploratory soil borings at a future industrial
site. He wants us to know he's not just collecting ground water
samples as the borings turned up a historic deep coal mine and required
additional borings to determine the extent of the former mine and
the structural integrity of the bedrock. |
