BELLES, A. GILBERT
"I retired in December 1996 after teaching 30 years at Western Illinois University (Macomb). Since retirement, I have traveled to Tahiti, California, Texas, South Carolina, and Florida. I have met with Wittenberg alumni in Tahiti,California, and Texas. I toured South Carolina with former Wittenberg choir director L. David Miller. I chaired the Wittenberg Class of 1962 Reunion held in June 1998 and stayed on for the Wittenberg Alumni Academy featuring Bob Hartje. A cruise to Alaska is planned for August."
McCURDY, (ALLEN) JOYCE E.
"Had a successful trip to Gettysburg with an AP class. Used Killer Angel. Have to read constantly, there is so much change so little time."WALKER, SUSAN E.
"Still at the same old stand! My daughters have both attended Mt. Holyoke College. Julie lives in Alexandria, VA and works for Virginia Opera Co.; Caroline just finished her junior year at MHC. I work in private practice and in a pastoral counseling center, doing psychotherapy in each.HOMEBoth reading and watching those great Ken Burns productions have continued my interest in history. It was only after graduating, and having had Bob Hartje as my advisor, that I got into the Civil War Lit and got really hooked. With my daughter in Alexandria, I hope to someday spend 2-3 weeks casing out all those Civil War Battlefields. History has proved to be an excellent major and I'm grateful for the excellent education W. U. provided in it. I found history to be a major that permits you to do anything-what isn't covered in history?"
