Class of 1965

BERNDT, GEORGE D.

"I am still employed with the National Park Service as a Park Ranger (historian) and work at the Illinois and Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor.

I maintain my membership in the OAH and AHA.  I continue to explore Germany, more extensively since 1989, and talk with my relatives in eastern Germany about events since 1945."

John Kindsvatter

I truly enjoyed the update on faculty and especially some of my inspirations for history: Charles Chatfield, Bob Hartje and Al Hayden.  Whether it was one of the entry level courses or the small group symposiums, history lived!  With all the changes on campus, it's really the relationships with other students, faculty and staff that continue to mentor my learning everyday.  Thank you one and all!

My family and I are Columbus, OH and we're fine.  I've been the pastor (now shared) of North Community Lutheran Church for six years.  We truly enjoy the urban life and challenges, together with the energy of a city's diversity. [April 1, 2003]

SCHLOSSER, (CAVAN) KATHLEEN C.

"Our daughter, Sarah, will be a senior at The College of Wooster, majoring in psychology.  Our son, Sam, will be a high school senior, undecided as yet on a college.  I have served for three years on the Ohio Library Association Poetry Award Committee, do some garden/landscape design work, and am active in my church.

I am currently reading Bernard Cornwell’s Arthurian Legend Novels, and highly recommend them.  I watch, and
vocally critique, The History Channel, and continue to read widely in history."

WARNER, (SHIMP) OLIVE L.

"I have been retired since 1992.  My husband and I are host and hostess of Lime Island now owned by the State of Michigan and maintained by D.N.R.  We share the history with visitors.  The old Fulton House is a museum on the 980 acre island and the one-room school house is a historical landmark.  This island was a coal dock for Great Lakes Freighters and is presently the best docking facility on the St. Mary’s River.

My best regards to Dr. Chatfield, Hartje, and my advisors."
