Class of 1969

BAKER, (BARTNETT) GAYLE RAYBOULD

"During the summer, 1995, my husband and I sailed our home (a 32' Erickson sailboat) north from Newport Bay (Los Angeles) to Santa Barbara where I began a new job as Dean, Academic Affairs at Santa Barbara City College.  We live in the harbor and I have the joy of being able to walk up the hill to campus--very different from the 90 mile commute I left in L.A.!

When the job was offered I exclaimed 'But I don't know anything about any of this!' for my responsibilities include all the nursing programs, child care, justice programs, hotel/restaurant, business, accounting, computers, and technologies such as marine diving, drafting, electronics, welding, and horticulture.  It is a wonderful learning adventure-but definitely a challenge for this historian-at-heart.

Currently I don't have a lot of time for any more than casual history reading, but I have 'a dream'. . . we plan to retire in four years and sail off to see the world.  A big part of this plan is to write short history books about the places we visit. (I even have the name of this series of books - Harbortown Histories.)  So, my days of renewed history-related activities are on the horizon."

BOWLUS, BRUCE

HUSTED, STANLEY N. II

"I continue to practice law in Springfield, OH  and continue to serve as secretary-treasurer and legal counsel for the Springfield Conservancy District.  My oldest daughter, Laura Peck, is married and she graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.  We have a new granddaughter, Adrianne Peck, age one.  My youngest daughter, Sara Husted, is attending the ACA College of Design in Cincinnati, OH  and plans to become a commercial artist."
KLUKAS, ARNOLD W.
"I continue to balance academic work (teaching art history at Univ. of Pittsburgh and spirituality, liturgies, aesthetics at Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry) and act as Dean of our Diocesan Academy.

I attend medieval art historical meetings each year.  In July I will participate in the British Archaeological Association meeting in Eton (UK) and a conference on Celtic Spirituality at the University of Durham (UK).  I am still active and publish in matters liturgical, architectural and spiritual."

LUNDGREN, DAVID J.

ROSE, G. ROBERT (ROB)

"Still teaching H.S. history and coaching baseball.  Named Coach of the Year.  State H.S. 1997 team went to regionals this year."
WADE, JAMES S.
"Senior broadcast journalist with B.B.C. World News in London. This can be in the field on location as Senior field producer or based in one of four London newsrooms as World News Duty Editor.

Sustain interest in history mainly by reading popular histories and watching documentaries.  Also spend a lot of off-duty time visiting historic sites in U.K. and abroad.  While in Peru on assignment spent most of a Sunday afternoon visiting the National Museum Exhibition on Inca gold uncovered during excavations.  And while in Japan visited the castle and grounds of Kyoto."
