Makers of Verse - 2007
November 27, 4:00 - 5:00
Ness Auditorium
On this Tuesday afternoon, over 100 students came to sit together by candlelight, nibble on cookies,
and listen eagerly to performances in six languages, as they shared their enthusiasm for the study of different
cultures. Dr. Tim Bennett summed up the experience as he addressed the assembly at the end of the program:
"I want to thank all the students who participated and all who have come to hear these languagesspoken and performed today. You have chosen to study at a university that emphasizes global
dimensions of learning and international connections in its curriculum. You are the heart and soul
of that global dimension. To my mind, there is no more fundamental gesture of courtesy and respect
for different cultures and different ways of life than putting forth the effort it takes to learn another
language. You should be proud of your work and your success. Give yourselves a hand!"
