Overview

Welcome to the web info page for the Wittenberg Triathlon. Hit the links to the left for details on this neat Witt community event. Here's an overview of the event and its history....

In the late 1990's, a few of us on the faculty and staff at Wittenberg started participating in the short triathlons that were popping up all over Ohio. We thought it would be swell idea to organize a triathlon right here on campus. The inaugural Witt Tri took place in 2000 with five individuals and three teams; since then the Witt Tri has become an annual event with over 50 participants each year.

Any Witt community member is eligible to participate -- students, alumni/ae, members of the faculty and staff, and family members as well. There's no registration fee, and there are no prizes -- except the joy of exercising and recreating with friends. You need not complete the entire event yourself; many participants form relay teams to complete the three legs. Please consider joining us for the next Wittenberg Triathlon.

The event is currently organized by Chris Raffensperger, with generous help from several volunteers, including Tammy Proctor, Bob Rafferty, Todd Shirley, and Patrick Braham. Feel free to direct questions to me at craffensperger@wittenberg.edu, or at (937) 327-7843, or stop by my office at Hollenbeck 311. I'd also appreciate any feedback on how to make this info resource more helpful. Thanks.

Special thanks go out to former Witt photographer Robbie Gantt for shooting all the images you see throughout this web resource, taken at our 2008 event. (Robbie and his wife, Lauren Chapman, now run a private photography business of their own, called openField photography.)
