If you have an interest in a particular area of management, you are encouraged to consult with your management advisor. Between you and your adviser, you can customize a group of courses that match your career interest area. Most areas will involve taking additional management courses as well as courses from other departments.  You can pursue most of the interest areas below while completing a management major or a major in another department.

Below you will find some sample customized interest areas. Your combination of courses may differ from those noted below, based on course availability and your specific interest. Although none of the listed career interest areas currently are available as a major or a minor, an abundance of courses are available that represent these different areas. The courses listed below are offered as samples but are for advising purposes only.

 

Accounting Interest Area

These recommended courses will prepare you for most careers in accounting. If you wish to pursue a career as a Certified Public Accountant, additional courses may be necessary depending on the requirements of your state's Board of Accountancy. Students who pursue an interest area in accounting may finish any additional requirements for the CPA in a Master's of Accountancy degree program.
