Springfield, OH- April 15th, a day when everyone is stressing about taxes, was a cause of celebration for a few management students. The sorority of Chi Omega held its annual scholarship awards dinner held at the Springfield Country Club.
Ashley Manson ’09, a management major from Covington, Ohio, received the Pauline Burnett Award for excellence in management. The Pauline Burnett Award, established in 1988, honors a charter member of the Tau Gamma Chapter (Wittenberg University) of Chi Omega who worked for years as the Assistant Manager of the Springfield Country Club; long before women managers were easily accepted. Each year’s recipient must have credible scholarship and excel in both business-related campus activities and in her employment experiences. After serving Chi Omega in numerous positions, Mason is currently serving as president of the Chapter.
Lindsay Smith ’08, a management minor from Mount Vernon, Ohio, received two awards the Athletic Award and the Sisterhood Award. The Athletic Award is given to a Chi Omega who has made outstanding contributions to her athletic team during her participation in intercollegiate sports. The Sisterhood Award is given to a member who has found the true meaning of Chi Omega. Her helping hand is outstretched to anyone in need of it. Her enthusiasm is never dampened, and her thoughts are always for the good of the chapter.
Chi Omega has xx members, 6 of whom are management majors, including Rachel Bonar '08, Katie Barsan ‘09, Beth Vonderbrink ‘09, Megan Meige ‘09, Ashley Manson ’09 and Andrea Berry ‘10.
