Springfield, OH –Glenn Christenson, ‘71, returned to Springfield, Ohio to talk to Wittenberg Management students about his journey to success. Christenson is a former CFO of Station Casinos, Inc. in Las Vegas. He joined the management team in 1989 and was with the company when it went public in 1993, and when it went private again in 2007.
Christenson spoke with two different classes, shared lunch with WittInvest, and gave a keynote address to all management majors during his stay in Springfield. During his keynote address he talked to students about his life lessons and what they should learn while in the business world. One student shared, “It was a nice change of pace to have someone who talked about lessons learned in life instead of just their successes.” The students enjoyed how personable he was and how easy he was to get along with.
One of Christenson’s life lessons about is to know who you are. Christenson advised students to have a personal definition of success as a personal goal to live by. This prevents living your life by others’ goals. He also spoke of the need for a five year plan. He wanted students to always have direction for the near future. He brought in the Wittenberg motto of “Having light we pass it on to others,” sharing how students should do their best to give back to the community. Also, being a CFO, he emphasized that you should “analyze everything” and always strive for excellence.
