Springfield, OH--On Wednesday, March 19th, 2008 the management department will host its third executive-in-residence, with the primary emphasis being a day focused on corporate responsibility. Shelly Outlaw, the US community relations manager for LexisNexis, will speak with students in three organizational behavior classes and present a keynote address: “Corporate Responsibility: Does it really make a difference?” at 4:00 pm in Bayley Auditorium. Outlaw will also be talking with management students and faculty at lunch and dinner.
Outlaw works a member of the Corporate Responsibility team to promote employee and community engagement through the LexisNexis Cares Program. LexisNexis is a global corporation with 14,000 employees that provides information solutions for legal, government and business industries. Since joining LexisNexis, Outlaw has led the US initiative to promote the LexisNexis Cares program to encourage employee volunteerism and giving for 9,000 US employees in 35 locations. Prior to joining LexisNexis, Outlaw spent 20 years connecting the academic and the corporate communities in her role as director of foundation and corporate relations at Wright State University, and 17 years as the director of corporate relations at the University of Dayton.
The management executive-in-Residence program began in 1978. Its purpose is to provide a forum for management students to interact with current business executives and discuss issues of current importance. The selected executive spends between one to three days on campus, sharing meals, discussions, and a formal presentation with majors and guests. Allan Setter, VP of Sales for Acosta Foods, and Glenn Christenson, former CFO of Station Casinos, also shared their time and expertise with management majors this year.
