Management faculty recognizes student excellence.

Springfield, OH- Following the annual Tau Pi Phi induction ceremony, the management department recognized eight students for their achievements in both the department as well as the Wittenberg community. Each student received a certificate. Their name will be engraved on a permanent plague in the department.
Professor John Fenimore presented the Tau Pi Phi Award to Matt Lynch ’08 from Springfield, OH. This award is given to a graduating management major who combines the highest academic achievement with university contribution. The recipient of this award receives a leather briefcase and a medallion to wear at graduation. Lynch, a dual major in management and sociology, earned accolades for his leadership of the foundation for a new venture of student-managed businesses to be launched this spring, WittEnterprises.
Professor Wendy Gradwohl presented the Wall Street Journal Award to Jon Fox ’08 from Urbana, OH. This award recognizes the graduating management major with the greatest potential for career success and who has a 3.2 or better GPA. The recipient of this award receives a year subscription and a medallion. Fox earned accolades for his contributions on two WittCAM project teams, one performing a retail audit for Springfield, and another doing a marketing plan for the Springfield Symphony.
Professor Pamela Schindler presented the Denise L. Calvert Leadership award to Allison Walker ‘08 from Columbus, OH. This award, named for a 1980 management graduate who was an outstanding campus leader, is given to the senior management major who provides significant leadership to both the department and university, while offering a strong example of dedication to scholarship and the needs of others. The recipient of this award receives a medallion to wear at graduation. Walker, the department’s student webmaster, is a senior class officer, captain of the track team, and a regionally recognized athlete in the hammer throw and discus.
Professor Lowell Stockstill presented the Financial Executives International Award to Sean Fields ’08 from Coppell, TX. This award, provided by the Financial Executives International, recognizes an outstanding senior finance or accounting student based on academics, leadership and service. Fields is a management major with a concentration in Finance; he was voted Executive Vice President of the Wittenberg Investment Club and will begin his career with JCPenney, Inc. in the Procurement Division of the Finance Department upon graduation.
Professor Lowell Stockstill presented the WittInvest Investment Award to Dale Williams ‘08 from Upper Arlington, OH. This award, sponsored by the WittInvest organization, recognizes a student of high academic achievement who will further the American free enterprise system via his or her knowledge of markets and investments. This award carries a cash prize. Williams, a dual major in management and economics. Currently a management department assistant and also a math workshop tutor for both management and economics courses. Williams also presents foreclosure reports to various community boards and clubs, and also provides business and marketing related assistance for the flight school based at the Springfield Beckley Municipal Airport.
Professor John Fenimore presented the Dr. Woodrow Wilson Prize for Excellence in Management to Zach Brumfield ’09 from Springfield, OH; Allison Scaia ’09 from St. Louis, MA and Mai Trinh ’09 from Hanoi, Vietnam (in absentia, study abroad in China). This award is given to a junior management major, who has achieved a 3.4 or better GPA overall and has shown evidence of service and leadership to the department and/or university. This award carries a cash prize.
