Springfield, OH – The SHRM HR Internship Sponsorship Award is given to Students studying HR at the undergraduate or graduate level to help support a summer, fall, or spring HR internship. Students who apply must have a minimum 3.3 overall grade point average with a 3.5 in their major. In addition, they must have two substantive recommendation letters, have secured an upcoming internship opportunity, and fill out an application explaining why they want to participate in an HR internship and how it will support their career goals. Eight scholarships are given in each of SHRM’s five geographic regions.
Senior management major Mai Trinh was one of the eight students in our geographic region to receive one of these awards. Trinh interned at the Representative Office of STA Travel/ Viet Travel in Hanoi, Vietnam. She worked with a special team composed of local employees from the HR and Operations departments. As a project coordinator, Trinh directly supervised most working sessions and got to see other people working in teams, trying to communicate with one another, and coping with the problems that diversity brought. Trinh said, “The internship has allowed me to grow immensely on both personal and professional levels.”
