Management Majors Recognized at Honors Convocation

Springfield, OH – Several management students were honored at the annual Honors Convocation on Friday, April 17, in Weaver Chapel.   The convocation recognizes high achievement of students and faculty in academic and co-curricular activities.

Senior management major Allison Scaia ’09 was the M. Alice Geiger Award winner.  The award, named for Wittenberg’s first woman graduate, recognizes a senior woman for outstanding contributions to the campus in the areas of performing or literary arts, athletics, co-curricular leadership, new programming, special academic pursuit or through special representation at any time during her college career.

 

                       Sara Wheeler

The John F. Mitchell Award was presented to senior management major Jon Duraj ’09.  This award honors a senior man who best represents the liberal arts tradition at Wittenberg.  This senior is a positive force in academic, cultural and social aspects of the campus.

Management major Sara Wheeler ’10 was the non-Greek recipient of the Alpha Delta Pi Scholarship award.  This award, created in 1990 by the Springfield Alumnae Association and Chi Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, recognizes two junior women, one Greek and one non-Greek, who best exemplify the characteristics consistent with the ideals and goals of the sorority.  Wheeler was also a final Alma Mater candidate which honors a junior woman on the basis of character and integrity, service to

the community, concern for others and high standards of

scholarship. In addition, Wheeler was one of 12 Presidential Scholars, which are the junior students that have the top 12 grade point averages of their class.

Senior management major Mai Trinh ’09 was the recipient of the Global Awareness Award.  This award was instituted in 1992 and recognizes seniors who contribute to greater global awareness within the Wittenberg University community.

Management department award winners recognized at the honors convocation were Allison Scaia ’09, Tau Pi Phi Award, Mai Trinh ’09, Faculty Award for Excellence, Katie Barsan ’09, Denise L. Calvert Leadership Award, Ben Adams ’09, Kendal Obreza ’10, and Sara Wheeler ’10, Dr. Woodrow Wilson Prize for Excellence, Michelle Costello ’09, Financial Executives Award, and Matt Wigton '09, WittInvest Investment Award.
