Management department recognizes student excellence.

Springfield, OH – The annual Tau Pi Phi induction ceremony was held on Tuesday, February 24, 2009. Following the induction ceremony, 6 seniors and 2 juniors were recognized for their academic and university achievements. Each student received a certificate, and their name will be engraved on a permanent plaque in the management department.
Professor Ron Lucchesi presented the Tau Pi Phi Award to Allison Scaia ’09 from St. Louis, MO. This award is given to the graduating management major who combines the highest academic achievement with university contribution.
Professor Wendy Gradwohl presented the Faculty Award for Excellence award to Mai Trinh ’09 from Hanoi, Vietnam. This new award recognizes the graduating management major with the greatest potential for career success. These seniors have a 3.2 or better GPA.
Professor Pam Schindler presented the Denise L. Calvert Leadership award to Katie Barsan ’09 from Silver Lake, OH. This award is given to the senior management major who provides significant leadership to both the department and university, while offering a strong example of dedication to scholarship and the needs of others. The award was named, posthumously, for the 1980 alumnus who, as president, led Wittenberg’s American Marketing Association chapter to several national awards.
Professor Wayne Maur presented the Dr. Woodrow Wilson Prize for Excellence in Management award to Ben Adams ’09 from Eaton, OH; Kendall Obreza ’10 from Gainesville, FL; and Sara Wheeler ’10 from Bucyrus, OH. This award is given annually to a student or students who have excelled in the academic area of Management. The student must be a junior management major, who has achieved a 3.4 or better GPA overall and has shown evidence of service and leadership to the department and/or university. This award carries a cash prize.
Professor John Fenimore presented the Financial Executives International award to Michelle Costello ’09 from Munice, IN. This award recognizes an outstanding senior finance or accounting student based on academics, leadership, and service.
Professor Lowell Stockstill presented the WittInvest Investment Award to Matt Wigton ’09 from Lancaster, OH. This award is sponsored by the WittInvest Investment club, and recognizes students of high academic achievement who further the American free enterprise system via their knowledge of markets and investments.
