redline

April 20, 2006

Springfield , OH -At the annual Chi Omega Awards Banquet, held this year at the Springfield Country Club, the keynote speaker was, Sarah Arntsen Schatz '00.

After graduating Summa Cum Laude with dual majors (BA in Management plus BFA in Dance), Schatz joined The FACS group, a division of Federated Department Stores (Cincinnati) responsible for financial operations for the northeast. She also pursued her love a dance by teaching for Mason Dance Center . Her husband Tim's pursuit of an MBA had her relocating to Ann Arbor for two years, where she worked for the University of Michigan School of Business in event planning and performed with Fueled & Aflame -a contemporary Christian dance company. She also studied at the CAS Ballet Theatre School and The Community School of Ballet where her choreography won a top award at the Dupree Dance Regional Expo in Detroit . Sarah's return to Cincinnati has her building her own contemporary Christian dance company, while working for the Malibu Group.

Schatz encouraged the attentive audience to pursue their passion rather than just a job or career. "As a priority, I put faith, family, and friends before work," shared Schatz, who finds her ability to teach dance and serve on the Board of Directors for Fueled & Aflame Dance Company her true passion. She told the story of presenting her senior management portfolio to professors Stockstill and Schindler, "whose comments were complimentary, but not glowing. They wanted to know why dance wasn't represented in my portfolio." She felt encouraged by their support to pursue her passion. "I've not regretted a single decision that has been influenced by that rule."

The Tau Gamma chapter of Chi Omega has 72 members, 5 of whom are management majors, including Amy Nilson '07, Jenna Corwin ' 07 , Morgan Miller ' 07 , Liz Pechiney ' 06 , and Rachel Bonar ' 08 , Professor Pamela Schindler , herself a Chi Omega (Pi Alpha, University of Cincinnati ) serves as the faculty adviser to the Tau Gamma Chapter.
