Why Management at Wittenberg?

We offer a broad-based management major within the context of a liberal arts college.  Because our students take courses in most of the functional areas (e.g., accounting, marketing, operations, finance), they should graduate with a clear understanding of how organizations (profit and non-profit) operate.

We encourage experiential learning.  From applied management projects to internships to management-related clubs, there are numerous ways students can get hands-on experience applying their management knowledge.

We provide flexibility.  In conjunction with your academic advisor you will be able to create an experience within the major or minor that meets your specific education and career objective.

- Wendy Gradwohl, Chair

Mission Statement

The mission of the Department of Management is to ensure that our graduates possess the academic background necessary for them to function effectively as organizational leaders in environments which are increasingly diverse, complex, and demanding. It is our assumption that effective leadership properly entails making creative contributions both to the viability of one's organization and to the well-being of the greater society. Our curriculum is intended to have students meet two objectives as learning goals:

(1) Students completing the major in Management shall possess substantive or technical competence to facilitate acquisition of and success in lower-level positions

(2) Students completing the major in Management shall acquire breadth of perspective and creative vision for application in environmental analysis and strategic decision-making at upper organizational levels.
