Faculty Policy on Classes Held on Martin Luther King, Jr., Day:
1. Class meetings on Martin Luther King, Jr., Day are to be set aside
for the discussion of King, his legacy, the Civil Rights movement,
or issues of diversity generally as they affect the subject matter
of the course in question.
2. A University convocation will be held on Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, which all faculty who are able will attend, and which all students will be encouraged to attend. The daily schedule will thus be adjusted to accommodate as wide as possible an attendance at this convocation.
3. Labs, studios, stage shop, and practices which do not conflict with the convocation may be held for regularly scheduled work and are not affected by this observance.
4. Faculty have the option of canceling class on Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, but if they do so, they should encourage students to attend other programming in observance of the focus of the day.
