Professor of Philosophy, specializes
in ethics and moral psychology, and serves on the editorial board of
the Journal of Moral Education. Reed presents his research
at the annual conference of the Association for Moral Education
and other professional meetings. His scholarly research focuses on Lawrence
Kohlberg (1927-1987), a psychologist and philosopher of moral development.

During the 1996-97 academic year, Reed was a Fellow of the National Endowment for the Humanities, when he began biographical
research on Kohlberg. Reed is currently working on a book titled Kohlberg's
Promise: The Project for a Scientific Moral Philosophy. He received
his B.A. from Hendrix College and Ph.D. from Vanderbilt
University. Reed came to Wittenberg in 1989. He is a
member of the Board of Education of Springfield City
Schools, having served during 2006 as Board President.
