Professor Emeritus of Physics

Biography:
Professor Emeritus of Physics, is a recognized researcher on the acoustic properties of materials, physical acoustics, and nonlinear acoustics and is a frequent consultant on his specialty to the Air Force and Navy. Most recently, he was a Navy Faculty Research Participant at the Naval Research Laboratory, and he has also done research at Harvard University and the Air Force Materials Laboratory. His areas of investigation in acoustics include use of digital waveform acquisition and analysis techniques for studies in the acoustic properties of materials and in nonlinear acoustics, as well as physical acoustics. Former Chair of the Department, he has been a National Science Foundation Summer Faculty Research Participant at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, General Dynamics, Lockheed-Georgia, and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where he also spent a year as a National Research Council Senior Research Associate. He has authored numerous articles as well as Physics: An Introduction for Students of Science and Engineering and An Introduction to Solid-State Technology. He joined the Wittenberg faculty in 1958 after earning his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. at Michigan State University.
