Biography

于 滨   YU Bin, Ph.D
(26 July 2007)

Yu Bin is Professor of Political Science at Wittenberg University (Ohio, USA) and Director of Wittenberg’s East Asian Studies program. Yu earned his Ph.D. from Stanford University (1991) and his M.A. from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (1982).

Yu’s professional activities includes: visiting scholar at the Center for American Studies, School of International Affairs and Public Policy, Fudan University in Shanghai (2006), Senior fellow of the Shanghai Association of American Studies (2002-current); faculty associate of the Mershon Center at Ohio State University (1991–current); visiting fellow at the Center for Asia/Pacific Research Center of Stanford University (1998); visiting fellow at the East-West Center in Hawaii (1994–95); President of Association of Chinese Scholars of Political Science & International Studies (1992–94); MacArthur fellow at the Center for International Security & Arms Control of Stanford University (1985–89); and research fellow at the China Center of International Studies, State Council, Beijing (1982–85).

Yu is the author and co-author of several books including the most recent ones: The Government of China [Mason Crest Publishers China Series] (Stockton, NJ.: OTTN Publishing, 2006); 《瞬间的力量:“9-11”后的美国与世界》(Shunjian de Liliang: 9-11 Hou de Meiguo Yu Shijie) [Power of the moment: America and the world after 9-11] (北京新华出版社,Beijing: Xinhua Chubanshe, 2002); and Mao’s Generals Remember Korean (The University Press of Kansas, 2001). He has published more than 60 articles in journals including World Politics, Strategic Review, Asian Survey, Asia Policy, China and Eurasia Forum Quarterly, International Journal of Korean Studies, Harvard International Review, Asian Thought and Society, etc. Yu is also a regular contributor for Comparative Connections [http://www.csis.org/pacfor/ccejournal.html] on Russo-China relations, the Pacific Forum (Honolulu), and a senior writer of Asia Times online (Hong Kong). He is currently working on several writing projects including, In Search for a Normal Relationship: China and Russia Into the 21st Century and《9/11与西方国际关系理论:危机与前景—兼论中国国际关 系理论的发展》[Sept. 11 and Western Theories of International Relations: Crisis and Prospect].

His research interests include international relations, East Asian security and politics, Sino-Russian relations, etc.

现任美国文博大学(Wittenberg University)政治系教授、东亚项目主任。

兼任上海美国学会资深研究员(2002至今),美国战略与国际研究中心(CSIS)太平洋论坛 (Pacific Forum)中俄关系特约研究员(1999至今),美国俄亥俄州州立大学莫尚中心 (Mershon Center) 联系教授(1991至今),亚洲在线(AisaTime Online)资深撰稿人(2003至 今)。

曾任上海复旦大学美国研究中心﹑国际关系与公共政策学院客座教授(2005-06),香港岭南 大学客座教授(1998-99) ,美国斯坦福大学亚太研究中心(Asia/Pacific Research Center) 访问 学者(1998) ,美国夏威夷东西方中心(East-West Center)访问学者(1994-95),中国留美政治 及国际关系学会主席 (1992-94)、美国斯坦福大学军备控制中心(Arms Control Center)学者 (1985-89) ,中国国务院国际问题研究中心研究员(1982-85)。

研究兴趣包括国际关系理论、国际关系史、东亚安全与政治、中国外交、中俄关系等。
