As I walked further into the center of the city, I realized that the small convenience shops I had been encountering on all of my walking tours were not necessarily the norm. People seemed to swarm to huge shopping centers like the BBI Centar and the Importanne Centar, which housed familiar fashion retailers like Urban Republic and renowned American designers like Christian Weber. I even passed the construction of the Marijin Dvor Business Center, which drew a lot of attention from passersby.

Although many of these buildings were “heavily devastated” during the war, they have mostly been restored. In fact, the UNIS High-Rise pictured on the home page is today “the seat of international banks and various branch offices,” proving that Sarajevo is truly a center for big business.
