Since the mid-20th century Sarajevo has become known as a city rich in soccer tradition. The arrival of the game was marked when the first leather ball was used in 1903. It was not until 1908 that the first soccer game was played in Sarajevo by team called Osman. Additionally, the two clubs FK Sarajevo and FK Željezničar have gained fame for their play during the times of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Further, the Sarajevo Derby which is played every year between rivals FK Sarajevo and FK Željezničar is one of the most contested events between the two teams. It is also the home of the reigning champions of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Premier League which is, FK Željezničar.
