Each year Wittenberg recognizes and rewards outstanding scholastic achievements by awarding merit-based scholarships and special awards to deserving students. Students are automatically considered for these awards once they submit an application to Wittenberg. We select students on the basis of performance, involvement in co-curricular activities, personal references and writing ability.
Special Interest Awards
In addition to merit-based scholarships, Wittenberg University recognizes individual talents, experiences and passions through special interest awards in the areas of art, dance, music, theatre, community service, student leadership and civic and urban engagement. Special interest awards each require a separate application, audition or portfolio. If selected, students may receive up to one special interest award in addition to one merit-based scholarship. The combined total of these awards may not exceed $25,000 annually. Although financial need is not a determining factor in the scholarship process, students who demonstrate financial need greater than the amount of their scholarship will be eligible to receive other types of need-based assistance.
Wittenberg University has been related to the Lutheran Church since its founding in 1845. There are many unique scholarship opportunities open to Lutheran students.
Endowed Scholarships
Wittenberg University provides almost $25 million annually in grants and scholarships to students. We are able to provide this level of assistance because of the generous contributions made by our friends and alumni.
Choose Ohio First
Wittenberg University offers additional scholarships for selected students interested in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine. Awards may be up to $4,700. An additional application is required.
There are many different scholarship opportunities offered from organizations independent of Wittenberg University. We provide a reference for some of the scholarships our students have received in recent years.
