About the Wittenberg Memorial Fund Christmas Card: The Wittenberg Holiday Card has been a tradition for more than 45 years. In 1961, an organization known as “the Wittenberg Wives” established the “Wittenberg Wives Memorial Fund” as a remembrance of those faculty and friends who had passed in the previous year. The fund was established to provide aid to needy students.
In following years, the organization (later known as Wittenberg Women), prepared a greeting card for the campus community as a fundraiser for the Memorial Fund. Instead of sending cards to each other, one card was sent out on behalf of all those who participated. Today, the tradition continues as do the generous contributions received from the campus community.
