Facts about Wittenberg University

Campus
Wittenberg's stunning 70-acre rolling, wooded terrain is situated in the heart of Springfield, Ohio, 25 miles northeast of Dayton and 40 miles west of Columbus. An impressive blend of traditional European classicism and contemporary architecture is abundant amongst the twenty-six buildings dispersed throughout the campus.

Admission
Wittenberg admits academically strong students. Of the entering freshmen, approximately sixty-five percent of students graduated in the top fifth of their high school classes. Each new class combines National Merit Scholars, Ohio Academic scholars, and Lutheran Scholars.

Students
What strikes most people when they visit Wittenberg is how genuinely friendly and welcoming people are on campus. There are 2,100 full-time students currently enrolled, representing over 40 states and approximately 36 foreign countries. Forty-five percent of students are male; 55 percent are female.

Faculty
The faculty consists of 145 outstanding classroom instructors, true mentors who consider students their top priority. Because of Wittenberg's average class size of 20 students and student-faculty ratio of 14 to 1, faculty and students have many opportunities for meaningful interaction both in and out of the classroom.

Programs of Study
Wittenberg has more than 50 majors and special programs from which students may choose to focus their studies. Among these majors are outstanding interdisciplinary programs: East Asian Studies and the Management program.

Off-Campus Studies
Wittenberg cultivates off-campus opportunities that complement the classroom experience: pursuing an internship, studying in a foreign land, and getting involved in the community through volunteer programs and community service requirements.

Student Life
Wittenberg offers more than just exceptional academic opportunities. More than 125 various student organizations offer students opportunities to gain management and leadership experience while at Wittenberg. Among these organizations are 15 fraternities and sororities, the Outdoor Club, WUSO radio station, Pre-Health Club, and many more.

Athletics
Wittenberg has long had a reputation for being an athletic powerhouse and fielding winning teams in many different sports. Wittenberg competes annually against the best competition that NCAA Division III has to offer. 23 varsity intercollegiate athletic teams are offered for men and women.

Residential Life
Wittenberg students live on campus the first two years. Wittenberg offers an array of residential halls including a substance-free hall and others that offer quiet floors or sections. Upperclassmen have the opportunity to stay in the residence halls or moving into Wittenberg's off-campus housing, which includes apartments and houses, and fraternity and sorority houses.

Financial Aid/Costs
The estimated cost of attending Wittenberg for the academic year 2005-2006 is $34,396. More than 75 percent of students qualify for financial aid at Wittenberg. The average financial aid package awarded is about $19,000 per year.
