III. Program and Event Planning

What types of activities does a Chapter sponsor?

It is the goal of the Office of Alumni Relations for each

Alumni Chapter to host 2-3 events each year in their area.

The possibilities are only limited by imagination!

                         *Networking luncheons

             *Hosting a faculty speaker

       * GOLD alumni happy hour

*Family day at the local Zoo

*Alumni Service Days

* Symphony or Theater events

       * Picnic for admitted and current students

* Tailgates at Athletic Events

Plan to gather Wittenberg alumni at a popular location or event in your city. Each chapter around the country can establish a special, unique, "must attend" social event that will gain popularity each year it is held.

The Annual Sarasota Yacht Club Seafood Buffet

Winter Holiday party in Columbus

Tailgating before the Wittenberg vs. Wooster rival football game

Wittenberg alumni day at the Indy 500 time trials

The key words in planning Chapter events: START EARLY
Keep the following in mind as you plan alumni events:

Date & Time: Free of conflicts in your community and among chapter leaders.

Location: Related to the alumni population in your area, anticipated attendance and type of event. The event should be centrally located and easily accessible.

Cost: Reasonable and cover local (excluding mailing) expenses of the event.

Publicity: Utilize local newspapers. The Alumni Office will send invitations, postcards, etc. when notified of the event 2-3 months in advance.

THEN...

After your chapter determines which type of event they will plan and host, and set the date, time and location, notify the Alumni Office as early as possible (2-6 months in advance).

If possible, plan all chapter events for the year to make an

Alumni Chapter Events Calendar.
