Given the time and financial costs required to complete a graduate or professional degree, you need to give serious consideration to whether or not this is a good next step for you. Where is your desire to go to graduate school coming from? Are you interested in the degree because it will allow you to advance within your chosen career field? Or, is your desire based on the following problematic reasons: fear of entering the work force, pressure from significant others, a preference to stay in an university environment, or a lack of anything better do? Once you have examined why you want to go to graduate school and feel comfortable with your reasons, then you are ready to move on with the application process.
