Eudora Pro on campus computers

Qualcomm, the maker of Eudora, will no longer be producing an e-mail program product. They're releasing one more update, and as a result older versions of the program will revert to the "lite" mode of the program. (You can read the full announcement here: www.eudora.com.)
What that means if you use Eudora on campus computers:
The "sponsored" mode of Eudora 6.x (what's currently installed on campus computers) will revert to the "lite" mode as of March 31, 2007. This change removes or disables the following features:
- Junk mail handling features & 3rd party junk plug-ins
- Spellchecking of your email messages
- MoodWatch helps you avoid "flaming" messages
- Statistics on how much email you send and receive
- Autocompletion of addresses as you type
- Multiple personalities for managing multiple mail accounts or identities
- Message stationery to help you respond to your mail more quickly
- Multiple signatures to help you personalize your mail
- Multiple address books to help organize your contact information
- Finding messages based on multiple search criteria
- Toolbar customization
- Advanced editing features like centering and indentation
- More powerful filtering:
- Change the personality associated with messages
- Play various sounds when mail arrives depending on your filters
- Open a message or mailbox in response to a filter
- Print mail directly from filters
- Get straight to the point with Content Concentrator
- Quick filing with Contextual Filing
What options are available?
3 options for campus office computers:
- Switch from IMAP (Eudora, WittMail, etc.) to Microsoft Outlook using MS Exchange (faculty and staff option currently) - information on training/conversion sessions coming in the next day or so
- WittMail is still available (www.wittenberg.edu/ws)
- Download and upgrade Eudora (Windows) on your office computer (this does not apply to lab or public campus computers)
- Go to http://www.eudora.com/download/. Scroll down the page; under Eudora for Windows click the link Eudora 7.1 Setup.
- Click SAVE. Be sure to set the save location to something recognizable; you can pull down the menu and choose Desktop for easy access later.
- After downloading the file, double click the Eudora_7.1.0.9.exe icon (look on your desktop if you followed the suggestion above.)
- Agree with (click Next) all of the settings EXCEPT - the "Choose Data Folder" screen. In the Custom option, type H:\Eudora in the space, then click Next.
- After you finish installing the program, restart your computer.
- When you open Eudora next, right click Dominant in the left column, then left click the option to refresh the mailbox list.
