Subscribe to a folder/Missing e-mail folders
- In Mail, in the Navigation Pane (Navigation Pane: The column on the left side of the Outlook window), click the Inbox in imap.witttenberg.edu
On the Tools menu, click IMAP Folders.
- Click Query.
- In the Folders box, click the folder you want to subscribe to. To select multiple folders, hold down CTRL while clicking folder names.
- Click Subscribe.

Purge messages marked for deletion:
When you mark an item on an IMAP e-mail server for deletion, it is displayed in strikethrough text in the header list. To permanently delete the items marked for deletion, do the following:
- On the Edit menu, click Purge Deleted Messages.
Note: If you do not purge deleted items periodically, you might reach and exceed the allotted disk space on your e-mail server. If you exceed your allotted disk space, you might not receive any new messages

Add a signature to an outgoing e-mail message
- From the main Microsoft Outlook window, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Mail Format tab.
- In the Compose in this message format list, click the message format to associate with the signature.
- Under Signature, click Signatures, and then click New.
- In the Enter a name for your new signature box, enter a name.
- Under Choose how to create your signature, select the option you want.
- Click Next.
- In the Signature text box, type the text you want to include in the signature.
You can also paste text to this box from another document.
- To change the paragraph or font format, select the text, click Font or Paragraph, and then select the options you want. These options are not available if you use plain text as your message format.
- To add an electronic business card- vCard- to the signature, under vCard options, select a vCard from the list, or click New vCard from Contact.
- Click Finish when you are done editing the new signature.

Create a rule (filter) from a template or from scratch/Set up an e-mail filter

Run a rule (filter) periodically but not all the time:
- On the Rules and Alerts dialog box, turn the rule off by clearing the check box next to the rule.
- Click Run Rules Now.
- In the Run Rules Now dialog box, under Select rules to run, select the check box next to the rule you want to run.
- Select the folder that you want to apply the rule to.
- Select the category of messages that you want to apply the rule to.
- For example, you can apply the rule only to unread messages in a folder.
- Click Run Now.

Create a rule (filter) based on a message in a folder
- Open the folder that contains the message.
- Right-click the message on which you want to base a rule.
- Click Create Rule.
- In the Create Rule dialog box, select the conditions and actions you want to apply.
- To add more conditions, actions, or exceptions to the rule, click Advanced Options, and then follow the rest of the instructions in the Rules Wizard.
To run the rule as soon as you have created it, select the Run this rule now on the messages already in "folder" check box on the last page of the Rules Wizard.

Create a rule based on a message you are composing
- Add a recipient or type a subject for the message.
- Click Create Rule.
- In the Create Rule dialog box, select the conditions and actions you want to apply.
- To add more conditions, actions, or exceptions to the rule, click Advanced Options, and then follow the rest of the instructions in the Rules Wizard.

Send from a different address or from a mailing list name
- Click Tools, E-mail Accounts.
- Select View or change existing e-mail accounts; click Next.
- Click Add.
- Complete the information:
- Your Name = the name the recipient should see. "(Solution Center as opposed to solution@wittenberg.edu.)
- E-mail address = the e-mail address of the mailing list or address from which the message should appear. (solution@wittenberg.edu, not solution.)
- Logon information = the name of the mailing list or address (solution, not solution@wittenberg.edu)
- Incoming mail server = imap.wittenberg.edu
- Outgoing mail server = smtp.wittenberg.edu
- Click More Settings
- On the General tab, fill out any information you prefer. This page is not required.
- Under the Outgoing Server tab, check the box "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication."
- Click Log On using; enter your username (wwitt, not wwitt@wittenberg.edu)
- We do not recommend saving your e-mail password.
- Click OK.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
- To prevent Outlook from checking messages for this e-mail address: On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive , point to Send/Receive Settings, and then click Define Send/Receive Groups.
- In the list, click All Accounts or the Send/Receive group you want to modify, and then click Edit.
- Select the options that you want.
- Repeat for each Send/Receive group you want to modify.

To send from the additional account name:
If you have set up multiple e-mail accounts in Microsoft Outlook, you can specify which account to use when sending a message.
- In the message, click Accounts.
- Click the account you want to use.
By default, e-mail is sent by using the account specified as the default in the E-Mail Accounts Wizard (Under Tools, E-mail Accounts).

Calendar-Personal calendar
To import from any Lotus Organizer calendar:
- Open Lotus Organizer
- Click File, Export
- Change the file type to vCalendar
- Fill in a file name you will remember.
- Choose a location you will remember (in the Look in bar at the top).
- Choose the section of your calendar to export.
- Click Export.
In Outlook:
- Click File, Import and Export
- Choose import an iCalendar or vCalendar file
- Click Next
- In the Look in bar, select the folder where you saved the Lotus calendar export file.
- In the Files of Type location, select vCalendar.
- Select the exported file name.
- Click OK.

Shared calendars:
Currently you can import information from a shared Lotus Organizer calendar into your personal Outlook calendar. Shared calendars within Outlook are unavailable at present however.

Synching Outlook calendar with a PDA or other device:
You may need the file location for your calendar when setting up your PDA software to synchronize with Outlook. The files are stored in H:\Outlook.

Import your Eudora address books into Outlook
In Windows:
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Open your H:\ drive, then open the Eudora folder.
- Locate and copy the file named "nndbase.nnt".
- Open the C:\ drive of the local computer (still in Windows Explorer).
- Open Program Files, click Show files then open the Eudora or the Eudora Pro folder.
- Paste the "nndbase.nnt" file into the Eudora folder.
- Right click the "nndbase.nnt" file and choose rename from the menu.
- Rename the file "nndbase.txt".
In Outlook:
- Click File, Import and Export.
- Select Import Internet Mail and Addresses, then click Next.
- REMOVE the check from the Import Mail option and make sure the Eudora (Pro and Light) option is selected. Click Next.
- Select an option. If you do not have contacts listed in Outlook yet, you can choose to replace with the imported items.
- Click Finish, then OK.
- To see your entries, click Contacts in the left column in Outlook.

Import your extra (they appear above "Dominant" in Eudora) mailboxes, sent mail, outbox
In Eudora:
- Right click "Dominant" in the mailbox column on the left.
- Click New.
- Name the mailbox.
- Open the mailbox (out, sent mail, etc) to import.
- Select and copy the messages in the mailbox.
- Paste the messages into the new mailbox you created under "Dominant".
- Close Eudora and open Outlook.
- Refer to Subscribe to a folder/Missing e-mail folders if they new mailbox does not appear immediately when you open Outlook.
