Help with E-mail

Using WebMail
We offer WebMail as an option to read e-mail. The program will work on campus or off and can be used with most Web browsers (see version information). From home, WebMail can be used to access campus e-mail even when using another Internet Service Provider.
How do I access the web site?
- To access WebMail, open a web browser application such as Netscape or Internet Explorer.
- Go to the address: http://webmail.wittenberg.edu:88
How do I log in?
Put the username and password in the spaces provided and click Login.
To check e-mail:
- To check messages click the Check Messages icon. WebMail will automatically refresh the message list every few minutes.
- To reply, forward, reply to all, or redirect a message, click to check and click on the appropriate button in the toolbar at the top of the window.
To send e-mail:
- Click the New Message icon in the toolbar.
- Fill in the e-mail address of the person to whom the message is addressed, the subject of the message, and the body text of the message and click Send.
To delete an e-mail
- To delete messages, click to place a check mark in the Subject section for the message.
- Click the [Delete] button at the top of the page.
To find an e-mail address for someone else on campus:
- Click the New Message icon in the toolbar.
- Click the Address icon in the upper left corner of the window.
- Type the last name of the person whose address you wish to find and click Search.
How do I change my e-mail password?
Currently passwords must be changed from the Witt Portal section of the Wittenberg Web page. Select the Witt Portal quicklink, log in, and choose Change password from the column on the left.
Rules for changing passwords:
- You cannot reuse the last five passwords used for Windows NT/2000.
- You must use a numeric character within the first 8 characters of the password.
- The password must contain at least one capitalized alphabetic character and one lowercase alphabetic character within the first eight characters.
- The minimum length password is 6 characters while the maximum is 8. (Reminder: E-mail and Windows passwords are separate; changing one does NOT change the other.)
To create your own address book:
- Click the New Message icon in the toolbar.
- Click the Address icon in the upper left corner of the window.
- Change the option in the space "PUBLIC - Public Address Book" to "PERSONAL - Personal Address Book". *Note: The personal address book in Eudora Pro is separate and will not be available automatically, nor will the WebMail addressbook be available through Eudora Pro..
To send file attachments:
- After typing the e-mail that you are sending, click [Message].
- Click [Attach], locate the file on that you wish to send, and click Ok.
