Information Technology Services
To connect a Windows XP computer to the campus wireless network:Step 1: In the bottom-right corner of the screen, right-click on the wireless network icon. Select "View Available Wireless Networks"

Step 2: From the list of available networks, select "Witt-Student" if you are a student or "Witt-FacNStaff" if you are a faculty or staff member. Click the "Connect" button.

Step 3: Wait a moment as the computer detects the network type. This may not finish before a help balloon appears (see next step).

Step 4: In the bottom-right corner of the screen, a help balloon will appear saying that Windows cannot find a certificate to log you on to the network. This is due to some network settings being on by default when they shouldnt be.

Step 5: Click on the network you selected and choose "Disconnect" (repeat Step 1 if it is no longer visible).

Step 6: You will receive a dialog box asking if you are sure you would like to disconnect. Select "Yes."

Step 7: On the left side of the window, select "Change Advanced Settings."

Step 8: Click on the "Wireless Networks" tab.

Step 9: Select the network you previously tried logging on to and click the "Properties" button (it shows up on this list only because we previously tried logging onto the network).

Step 10: Click on the "Authentication" tab.

Step 11: In the "EAP type" drop down menu, select "Protected EAP (PEAP)".

Step 12: Click on the "Properties" button.

Step 13: Click on the "Configure" button.

Step 14: Uncheck the box "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any)."

Step 15: Click each "OK" button in each window until only the "Choose a wireless network" window is visible. Click on the campus network you would like to connect to, then click "Connect."

Step 16: Click the balloon in the bottom-right corner that says "Click here to select a certificate or other credentials for connection to the network [network name]"

Step 17: Type in your Wittenberg username and password in the appropriate fields, but leave the "Domain" field blank. Click "OK."

Step 18: Wait a moment while Windows connects to the network.

Step 19: Click on the balloon that appears in the bottom-right corner.

Step 20: You will see a dialog box asking you to validate a server certificate. Click "OK."

You will now be connected to the campus wireless network. Your network settings will be so you should only need to do Steps 1-3 in the future.
