Flatbed Scanners on Campus

Using the 24 hour lab scanners

  1. Double-click the "Scan an Image" icon.
  2. Lift the lid of the scanner and place a picture in the upper right corner of the scanner.
  3. In the HP Scanning program, click the New Scan button at the bottom.
  4. To select an area, position arrows to outline (draw a box around) the area.
  5. To save the picture click Accept
  6. Change the Save in line to H:\ (drive) or another network drive area.
  7. In the File Name line type in the name of the image along with the extension.
    • For Bitmaps this would be .bmp (e.g. scan.bmp)
    • For JPEGS this would be .jpg (e.g. scan.jpg)
    • For GIFS this would be .gif (e.g. scan.gif)
  8. Set the Save as type to what you want the image to be saved as.
  9. Click the Save button.

Scanning a picture Using Hewlett-Packard Flatbed Scanners

  1. Double-click the "Precision Scan Pro" or "Scan an Image" icon.
  2. Lift the lid of the scanner and place a picture in the upper right corner of the scanner.
  3. In the Precision Scan Pro program, click on Scan options.
  4. Select the Preview option.
  5. To select an area, position arrows to outline (draw a box around) the area.
  6. Click "Output Type" and select from the list.
  7. To save the picture click Scan, Save As, and choose a format for the image.
  8. Name the file and save to either the H:\ (drive) or another network drive area.
