Accessing computer services
What public access for computing is available to students? Examples include computing labs, cyber cafés, residence hall computers, and wireless access.
- Supporting the instructional needs of the Wittenberg campus is a
combination of 500+ networked Windows 2000 workstations available to students. This network extends to all academic
campus buildings, with numerous computer lab locations including
the Thomas Library, the Barbara Deer Kuss Science Center, Carnegie
Hall, Hollenbeck Hall, Matthies House, and the residence halls. Residence Hall and 24 hour lab access is available around the clock.
Does the campus provide institutional e-mail accounts for all students and use e-mail as an official medium of communication?
- Accounts for Windows, e-mail(LDAP), and WebCT are created automatically for all registered students, their parents, and currently employed faculty and staff. E-mail is used as the primary means of official communication.
Does the campus provide and support electronic space for personal student Web pages?
- Space is available to all active students, faculty, and staff to create and maintain their own web presence on University servers. The space can be used for academic purposes, personal purposes, to update family and friends, or even to aid in a job search for after graduation.
Connecting with others
Is contact information for students, faculty, and staff readily accessible electronically?
- All available contact information can be found in the WittLink Portal.
What social activities and services are available online?
Are there Web sites for student organizations and clubs?
Does the campus make available online discussion forums or bulletin boards for un-moderated use?
- Both institutional and student-only message boards are available through the WittLink Portal under WittBoard.
What technology-supported career-planning services are available for students?
- Each student maintains an ongoing portfolio in the WittLink Portal throughout their academic career in the WittLink Portal. Students are encouraged to stay in contact with the Office of Career Development throughout.
