What is Dial-Up Networking?

Dial-Up Networking is the term used when talking about connecting your computer to a network (like Wittenberg's) via a modem installed in the computer. This is also referred to by the acronym D.U.N. or just DUN. So when we are talking about Dial-Up Networking it is referring to the setup of your computer to use the modem to connect to a network. Until you have Dial-Up Networking set up on your computer, you cannot actually use the Wittenberg Network Modem Service.

Important Note for AOL or NetZero Users:

America On-Line and NetZero's Network software blocks other dialup services. You may experience some problems when trying to setup the Wittenberg Network Modem Service on your system. If you do experience such problems, uninstalling the America On-Line or NetZero software the restarting the computer normally solves the issue.
