Mapping a Network drive (Windows systems only)
Information about software you need to map network drives when you use an ISP other than Wittenberg
Map a network drive for Windows 2000/XP/Vista
- Connect to the network
- For Windows 2000/XP:
- Click Start, Programs, and select Windows Explorer
- A two-paned window will now appear. At the top click Tools and select Map Network Drive
- For Windows Vista:
- Click the Start button then select Computer

- A two-paned window will now appear. At the top click Map Network Drive.
- In the Map Network Drive window, the first line will have a
letter in it. You can change this to any letter you want as long as it is not already in use
- On the second line type the name of the Share you wish to map. For a list of shares click here. Be sure to put *your* username in the share path, replacing the word "username".
- Select the Connect Using a Different Username link located in the window.
WITTENBERG\username where username is your Wittenberg username.
Then in the password line type in your Windows password and click OK.
- Click Finish in the map network drive window. The added drive will appear in the window.
Share Paths
NOTES:
- When you see username replace it with your usename
- When you see department replace it with your department
- Be aware that if you have spaces in the share path the share path MUST be enclosed in double quotes
i.e. American studies would need to use "\\bengal2\dfs\deparments\American studies"
